Murder is Ugly
Murder is Ugly by Price McNaughton is a mystery novel set in a horsey suburb. The small neighborhood residents are superficial, uppity and some are very controlling about making and enforcing community rules. This has all the drama of a soap opera.
Here, Jinx visits her friend, Brynn, for the summer bringing along her horse. She becomes an amateur sleuth when the first murder is discovered and then proceeds to investigate previous deaths that appeared to be accidents.
This horse lover becomes more involved with the neighbors than spending time with her horse. The rodeo scene at least brought more horse setting to the story.
I found the plot to be unrealistic and I had no emotional feelings for any of the characters including Jinx. Other readers may feel differently.
